Am 1. Februar 2010 verurteilte ein Gericht Ivan Mikhailau zu 3 Monaten Haft. Er wurde der „Fahnenflucht“ für schuldig befunden. Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights betrachtet Ivan Mikhailau als Gewissensgefangenen, der allein deshalb inhaftiert ist, weil man ihm sein Recht auf Inanspruchnahme eines alternativen zivilen Dienstes verweigert hat, und fordert seine sofortige und bedingungslose Freilassung. On 1 February 2010 a court sentenced Ivan Mikhailau to 3 months of arrest. He was found guilty of „draft evasion“. Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights considers Ivan Mikhailau as a prisoner of conscience, who is detained solely because he has been denied his right to perform an alternative civilian service, and calls for his immediate and unconditional release. Amnesty International has called on the Belarusian authorities to release a conscientious objector, found guilty by the Minsk District Court of "draft evasion" and sentenced to three months in prison on Monday. More

Viasna: Review-Chronicle of Human Rights Violations in Belarus in December 2009
At the end of the year its results were summed up. On 22 December the leadership of the United Democratic Forces of Belarus held a press-conference at which it was stated that this year the situation for the opposition was no better than last year. The country again has political prisoners, the Ministry of Justice again denies state registration to political parties and NGOs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies accreditation to foreign media and their correspondents. Besides, democratic activists are kidnapped by unidentified persons and are arrested for participation in unauthorized peaceful street actions. More
