Aleh Surhan

24. August 2010 – Political Prisoner Aleh Surhan released

On 27 July 2010, Aleh Surhan, activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, was released from prision. He was sentenced on February 19th 2010 to 6 months of arrest because of alleged resistance to the police.

The true reason of his sentence was the display of a white-red-white flag in Vitebsk on September 3rd 2009, expressing his dissident opinion. Libereco recognized him as a prisoner of conscience and launched a petition for his release.
