Dear President Lukashenka,

 

We urge you to release all political prisoners in Belarus immediately and unconditionally!

 

According to information of Belarusian human rights organisations, which Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights received, the people listed below are imprisoned or persecuted for political reasons in Belarus at the moment (as of 16th April 2012).

 

Sentenced Political Prisoners:

Ihar Alienevich, Mikalai Autukhovich, Ales Bialiatski, Dzmitry Dashkevich, Mikalai Dziadok, Aliaksandr Frantskevich, Siarhei Kavalenka, Eduard Lobau, Artsiom Prakapenka, Pavel Seviarynets, Mikalai Statkevich, Pavel Syramalotau, Yauhen Vaskovich

Unlawfully convicted or accused:

Sviataslau Baranovich, Andrei Dzmitryeu, Aliaksandr Fiaduta, Iryna Khalip, Siarhei Martseleu, Dzmitry Miadzvedz, Ales Mikhalevich, Uladzimir Niakliayeu, Nasta Palazhanka, Andrei Pazniak, Andrzej Poczobut, Vital Rymasheuski, Siarhei Vazniak

 

The imprisonment of political prisoners and the persecution of peaceful protesters after the violent breakdown of a demonstration in Minsk on 19 December 2010 are strong violations of human rights, the compliance of which Belarus is obligated to guarantee according to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which was signed Belarus.

 

We would like to remind you of the international obligations of Belarus and urge you to ensure the rights to freedom of expression, assembly and association to all people in Belarus.

 

Mr. Lukashenka, stop the persecution, harassment and intimidation of dissidents immediately!
