Students in Belarus continue to be suffering from state repressions. In the case of Tatsiana Shaputska this means that she remains unable to continue her studies in Belarus.
According to a reply of the German Federal Government to an parliamentary inquiry of the Green Party, Tatsiana Shaputska should be able by now to continue her studies at university in Minsk. The German government is hereby referring to information given by Belarusian authorities.
Vis-à-vis Libereco, Tatsiana Shaputska has denied this information to be correct. The former student at the law faculty of the Belarusian State University (BSU) announced that resuming her studies was subject to hard and unacceptable conditions: she will only be accepted if there are enough free places at university, she would be forced to pay a study fee and she would have to restart her studies from first year on, instead of continuing in third year where she had left.
Tatsiana Shaputska considers these conditions for re-enrolement at BSU as not acceptable and has started distance studies at the European Humanitarian University (EHU) in Vilnius, Lithuania. Provided the terms were fair and equitable, she would like to continue her studies in Belarus.
Libereco calls upon the Belarusian authorities to allow Tatsiana Shaputska to continue her studies without conditions. She should be able to continue her studies immediately, in the 3rd year of study and without any additional fees. Furthermore, Tatsiana must be given the opportunity to completely rehabilitate herself.
