On 27 July 2010, Aleh Surhan, activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, was released from prision. He was sentenced on February 19th 2010 to 6 months of arrest because of alleged resistance to the police.

Libereco keeps on supporting the demand to reinstate Tatsiana Shaputska immediately. After being expelled from the Belarusian State University (BSU) in December 2009 Tatsiana Shaputska has appealed against this decision. Unfortunately she was not successful in court.

On 1 February 2010 a court sentenced Ivan Mikhailau to 3 months of arrest. He was found guilty of „draft evasion“. Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights considers Ivan Mikhailau as a prisoner of conscience, who is detained solely because he has been denied his right to perform an alternative civilian service, and calls for his immediate and unconditional release.
12 NGOs from 7 countries published an open letter to Belarusian President Lukashenko and urge him to release Ivan Mikhailau and to adopt a law, which enables an alternative civilian service in Belarus immediately.
On 29 January 2010 the 21-year-old Ivan Mikhailov is due to go on trial on charges of refusing compulsory military service. He was arrested on 15 December 2009 after his demands to do alternative civilian service were rejected.
The NGOs Libereco, People in Need, European Exchange, Human Rights in Belarus, Young European Movement Berlin-Brandenburg and Belarusian Human Rights House have published a joint appeal to the Belarusian Government.
Tatsiana Shaputska, press-secretary of the „Young Front“(Malady Front), was being expelled from her studies at the Belarusian State University on 3 December 2009 – obviously because of her political exertion.
