We, our members, supporters and partners do not stand on the sidelines while individuals and authorities in countless countries trample on human rights and civil liberties. We support those who are subject to human rights abuses. Those who are responsible for human rights violations may not be exempt from punishment.

We support the cause of those who are prosecuted for political reasons, people that are subject to repression by authorities because they are involved in politics and society. International solidarity gives a voice to the oppressed. Only by standing up for human rights and by putting pressure on perpetrators of human rights abuses can we improve the welfare of victims of repression, protect those who are at risk and improve their situation in the long run. Only by taking action can we bring perpetrators of human rights abuses to justice.

We develop partnerships in close and immediate contact with human rights defenders in countries where people endure repression for what they think and for their political involvement. Together we can make a difference.
