It took us quite some time to come up with a right name for our NGO. On the one hand we needed a name that would reflect our commitment to human rights, on the other hand we wanted to emphasize our approach based on international partnerships. We finally came up with “libereco“. The word libereco has its origin in the international auxiliary language of Esperanto, which Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof introduced in 1887 as a an easy and flexible language that would serve as a universal second language to foster peace and international understanding. Libereco means freedom. Lieberco stands for what we believe in and campaign for.
